Learn from the people
doing the real work
LIFEWS instructors are not just academics โ they are active researchers, field practitioners, and sustainability leaders working at the frontlines of food, energy, water, and climate systems worldwide.
Gabriel Sunday Ayayia is an interdisciplinary researcher, author, and the visionary founder of LIFEWS Academy. Originally from Obudu, Cross River State, Nigeria, Gabriel holds an MS in Applied Ethics and an MS in Environmental Science from Oregon State University, where he is pursuing his PhD focusing on agrivoltaics, climate-smart agriculture, and the application of Ubuntu philosophy to food and water security. He has presented research internationally and worked directly with smallholder farming communities across West Africa.
Field-First Content
Every lesson starts with a real-world case study โ not a textbook example. Our instructors draw directly from their own field work, research projects, and practitioner experience to ground every concept.
Clear, Accessible Language
Complex systems concepts are explained in plain language first, then built up with technical depth. Every lesson is designed to be understood by learners at different levels of background knowledge.
Tools You Can Use Tomorrow
Each lesson ends with a practical framework, tool, or decision-making process that learners can apply immediately to their own work โ whether in the field, the office, or the research lab.
